How much time can he or she devote to your case? What are they fees and costs associated with his/her representation? You will quickly get a feel for whether or not he or she has the type of experience you are seeking.

Education- While you may assume the person you are interested in hiring is an attorney, confirm that they are admitted to the State Bar Association in your state, and that they are in good standing. To practice law in the United States, an attorney has to have a state license, and be a graduate of an accredited law school. In order to confirm this, you simply have to make a phone call to the State Bar Association in your state.

3. Reputation- One of the best ways to select a legal attorney is by talking with people that you know and trust and asking them if they know someone who practices law in the area that you need. If you know someone that owns a business chances are that they have retained an attorney and may be able to assist you. Usually if an attorney has a bad reputation or has violated the Code of Ethics, you can find this out by checking with your local Bar Association. Ask if the attorney has ever received discipline from the Bar Association.
